Petershausen, population 6300, founded 1116 A.D., is located in the scenic
Glonn valley, one of the oldest settlement areas in Bavaria, about 30 km (20
miles) north of Munich. It takes only half an hour from or to the Munich
Airport by car. Petershausen is only a few miles away from the Munich-Nuremberg
highway A9. Modern air-conditioned trains to Munich down-town are available
several times every hour and take 18 to 25 minutes only (travel time by car
would be around 45 minutes). The very fast ICE trains to destinations like
Wuerzburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Hamburg or Berlin can be reached in Ingolstadt
or Munich, coordinated feeder trains are available.

A large number of fish species can be found in the Glonn river, such as rainbow
trout, eel, perch, barbel, bream, carp, and sander.

The surroundings of Petershausen are characterized by agriculture and mixed
farming.

Every autumn the local culture club organizes an art and hobby fair with many
regional exhibitors.

The Petershausen brass band is famous not only at home but had appearances in
many towns and countries.

During the annual fair market many exhibitors sell nearly everything like food,
toys, clothing and household goods.

During winter the snow depth is often more than 50 cm, and in January and
February the temperature sometimes falls below -20 °C.
